Show Regulations

SHOW REGULATIONS - *** PLEASE READ YOUR SCHEDULE CAREFULLY ***

  1. All produce shown for competition must have been grown by the exhibitor in his/her garden or allotment and must have been in his/her possession for at least 3 months prior to the show, other than for flower arrangements.

  2. The shows are open to all amateur gardeners.

  3. Entry fees for exhibits in the show are:

  4. Members 20p per entry(b) Non-members 40p per entry(c) Children free

  5. Entry forms to be returned to the Show Secretary by Wednesday 8 p.m. preceding the show. Telephone entries are acceptable.  No entries will be accepted on the day of the show.

  6. An exhibitor may stage only one entry per class.

  7. Judging will be in accordance with RHS and NAFAS rules and the judges’ decisions will be final. Entries which do not comply with the Schedule will be disqualified.

  8. If exhibitors supply their own vases, plates or containers, they do so at their own risk. Vases and plates are provided by the Association.

  9. Unless otherwise stated, a dish should consist of one variety only.

  10. Every exhibit must have an entry slip obtained from the Show Secretary. The Exhibitor’s name must not be displayed until after the judging has taken place.

  11. Prizes may be withheld or modified at the Judge’s discretion if the quality of the exhibit is undeserving.

  12. Objections must be lodged in writing within 1 hour of the opening of the show, with a deposit of 50p, which is refunded if the appeal is upheld.

  13. The Committee reserves the right to inspect an exhibitor’s garden or allotment.

  14. Cups are to be held for one year only and remain the property of Shepperton Horticultural Association (To be returned to the Show Secretary 2 weeks prior to the corresponding show). Medals may be retained by the recipient.

  15. Cash prizes and awards not collected within 7 days will revert to the Association.

  16. All shows are insured against accident, but exhibits are at the owners’ risk.

Any matters arising during the show that are not covered by these regulations shall be determined by the Committee, five members to form a quorum for this purpose.
